Philanthropy is an important aspect in our fraternity. This is why Phi Gamma Delta as a whole is partnered with the USO and the Red Cross to help those in our community. The USO is a non-profit organization that raises money to help the troops and their families, with a legacy of providing a moral boost through entertainment. The USO does all it can to help deployed troops feel like they are home, especially during the times they miss it most. The Red Cross provides assistance and relief to those who have been struck by disaster. They provide relief efforts to those who need it most and try to help people get back on track when they have lost all else.
The Beta Psi chapter has also developed a local partnership with Habitat for Humanity which provides homes for those who have inadequate or insufficient housing. This means people of any race, color, or creed can get a home if they cannot find affordable living, or if their current home is no longer safe or adequate for their needs. They require those who they help to contribute to the effort through sweat equity, and try to get them involved in the community. The Beta Psi chapter has provided help with these efforts by going to the build sites and contributing directly on these projects, working at the Restore (which earns funds for habitat), and starting the Black Diamond Golf Tournament. The Black Diamond Golf Tournament is a charity tournament held to raise money and awareness for Habitat for Humanity, helping them fund their efforts and get as much help as they can as well. The chapter continues to build up this tournament into an annual event as the first one was an amazing success with over $2000 dollars raised. If you are interested in our tournament, click here.
